Almighty Harrison Gents Nation The Almighty Harrison Gents Nation is a Folks Mob made up of mostly latinos. Their colors are purple and black. Their symbols include a skull with a top hat, a cross with 4 slashes, gloves, and a cane with 4 dots. The Harrison Gentlemen originated at Harrison High School in the vicinity of Harrison & Western, possibly in the late 50's-to-early 1960's. The gang adopted the color Purple because it being the schools traditional color at the time. As the ethnicity change occurred in the area, the gangs hierarchy influence moved into the East Village community around 1977. During this time, the Harrison Gentlemen established a relationship with a group known as the Lazy Gents (possibly known just as the Gents). This gang had been previously based in the East Village community and operated mainly along Ashland Avenue, from Grand Ave.-to-North Avenue. The gangs formed a tight-knit relationship for a almost a decade before merging the two organizations, thus becoming the "Harrison Gents". The Harrison Gents solidified their stronghold and presence in the East Village community. In the early 1980's the organization joined the Folks alliance. The Harrison Gents are arch enemies with the Ashland Vikings street gang, and around the year 2000, the Harrison Gents took control of the Ashland Vikings "motherland" in the vicinity of Ashland & Walton. In 1992, the Harrison Gents joined the Insane Familia, a group of Latino Folks gangs aside the umbrella of the Spanish Cobras. However, due to their consistent war with the Ashland Vikings, who were also in the Family, the Harrison Gents terminated their ties to the Insane Familia. In 2004, a war erupted with the Harrison Gents and the Satan Disciples which has slowed the gangs activity due to police intensity. Gentrification has also played a role in the gangs operations. The Harisson Gents have a strong influence in the East Village community and have began to make in-roads into the Rogers Park area, Cicero, and other Chicagoland suburbs. The Harrison Gents once operated a presence in the Bucktown/Wicker Park and Uptown neighborhoods in their earlier years. |
