Latin Dragons Nation Latin Dragons Nation is a Folks Mob made up of mostly latinos. Their colors are White & Black Their symbols include a Dragon, Diamond w/6 dots. The Latin Dragons originated in the South Chicago community in the early 1980's. The Latin Dragons initially were allied to the Latin Kings street gang and became members of the People alliance. Throughout the 1980's, the Latin Dragons recruited in the South Chicago neighborhoods to solidify the gangs presence and stronghold. By the early 1990's, the Latin Dragons grew to become one of the larger street gangs in the area, controlling roughly East 83rd Street and S Manistee Avenue to East 87th Street and South Exchange. In the mid 1990's, the Latin Dragons and Latin Kings began to feud on the streets. Although the Latin Dragons organization was a member of the People alliance, the gang held only close ties to the Latin Kings street gang during their affiliation. By this time, interalliance gang wars had become more common on the streets and the conflicts between the Latin Dragons and Latin Kings were faintly addressed by other street gangs with the People alliance. These events may have lead the Latin Dragons organization to adopt a "renegade persona" for a brief period of time. The Latin Dragons and Latin Kings fought consistently in the South Chicago community; turmoil eventually spread its influence into the correctional facilities as well. In 1997, the Latin Dragons established ties with other street gangs within the correctional facilities and on the streets which enabled the organization to sever their ties to People alliance and join the Folks alliance. Throughout and since the late 1990's, the Latin Dragons have been in a constant state of war with several South Chicago street gangs. The Latin Dragons have been able to gain a well known reputation for violence and defending their territory over the years. The Latin Dragons have a strong presenc in the South Chicago area including the Chicagoland suburb of Calumet City. The Latin Dragons principle rivals have consisted of the Latin Kings, Latin Counts, Black P. Stones, Spanish Vice Lords, and Spanish Gangster Disciples street gangs. |
